{"id":346,"date":"2011-11-30T20:23:44","date_gmt":"2011-11-30T20:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/parrybaysheepfarm.com\/wordpress\/?p=346"},"modified":"2011-11-30T20:23:44","modified_gmt":"2011-11-30T20:23:44","slug":"kogies-mutton-or-lamb-curry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parrybaysheepfarm.com\/wordpress\/2011\/kogies-mutton-or-lamb-curry\/","title":{"rendered":"Kogie&#8217;s Mutton or Lamb Curry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This great recipe was sent in by Kogie.<br \/>\nIngredients:<\/p>\n<p>1 kg of cut up pieces of Lamb \u2013 remove excess fat \u2013 rinse meat.<br \/>\nHalf thinly sliced medium onion.<br \/>\n3 tablespoons of oil<br \/>\n4 -5 medium sized tomatoes \u2013 liquidized or grated<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp ground ginger and garlic<br \/>\n2 tsp curry powder<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp ground coriander powder<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp ground jeera powder<br \/>\n1 bay leaf<br \/>\n1 piece cinnamon<br \/>\n2 green cardamom<br \/>\n2 cloves<br \/>\n1 tsp salt<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp turmeric powder<br \/>\nfresh cilantro \u2013 10 stems finely chopped for garnish<br \/>\n2 cups hot water<br \/>\n4 large potatoes \u2013 each one cup up into 4 pieces<\/p>\n<p>Method:<\/p>\n<p>1. Heat oil hot in large pot.<br \/>\n2. Add onion and braise for 2 min until slightly turning brown \u2013 add bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom<br \/>\nand cloves.<br \/>\n3. Remove from stove \u2013 add the rest of the spices. Do not burn.<br \/>\n4. Return pot to stove and add meat \u2013 allow meat to absorb spices.<br \/>\n5. After 5 minutes, add tomatoes.<br \/>\n6. Cook for 10 minutes.<br \/>\n7. Add water and cook for further 15min. Add potatoes.<br \/>\n8. Cook until potatoes are soft- approx. 20 \u2013 30 min \u2013 make sure there is enough gravy. Add \u00bd cup water if necessary.<br \/>\n9. Lastly garnish with fresh cilantro.<\/p>\n<p>Serve Curry hot with rice, salad and atchar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This great recipe was sent in by Kogie.
